dog. It is purely a word used by breeders and other people describing a dogs
tiny size. Some people think that a 6-10 lb dog is tiny, while another people
may think that is huge.
Each person’s
definition of tiny or small can be very different. What the term does
is it gives clarity to the type of "small dog" a person is talking
about. It is a name given by
breeders to describe an extra teeny tiny small dog.
It
makes communicating more efficient between two parties talking about a tiny
dog, because most breeders will agree teacups are usually 4 lbs and
smaller. There is no universal standard
of a teacup puppy or dog.
Each
breeder has their own definition of what size a teacup should be! Most breeders

dogs that are built tall and thin and weigh 4 pounds, but can be 11 or 12
inches tall and some are built short and fat and only be 8 inches tall, but

There seems to be love and hate from people
towards the word "teacup" nowadays because of what they think its

of a unhealthy tiny dog. Dogs, no matter
what their size is, can be unhealthy and healthy. It mainly depends on their lineage, just like
people.
A responsible breeder of teacup puppies is
breeding for the tiny size. The parents are small and most importantly the
father is tiny and comes from a gene pool of tiny dogs. Teacups dogs can come
to be from being the "runt" of the litter, but that doesn't always
mean he or she is unhealthy.
